Michigan Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists response to the trial of RaDonda Vaught

"Nurse RaDonda Vaught's verdict places all healthcare workers at great risk to be criminally charged for errors which result from system failures. This will impact how and if errors are reported In fear of what is happening with Nurse RaDonda.

As Clinical Nurse Specialists, we use our education and clinical expertise to help those at the bedside to provide the best and safest care possible. That Is only possible If healthcare organizations support and practice a just culture or a culture of safety. The tragedy that befell Charlene Murphy was the result. of a fatal medication error, and a series of multiple system failures which Vanderbilt had knowledge of. It is unjust that Nurse RaDonda is blamed solely for Charlene Murphy's death."
